Which parts of the British Isles have ecological problems?

Currently, more than 8% of the area of Great Britain is built up, and from Liverpool to London stretches the highly urbanized territory of the English megalopolis, which occupies more than 50 thousand square kilometers. Despite a significant improvement in air quality in cities, the southeast of the island is still characterized by elevated concentrations of a number of hazardous pollutants that are carried by the prevailing westerly winds to other regions of Europe.
