We had a farm, and it was a very interesting place. There were animals on it, sheep and cows, horses and pigs. In the fields near the farm there were potatoes, cabbages, and corn. I was very fond of the farm and we were lucky to have it, but there was a lot of work to do on it.
My sister had a lot of work to do on the farm. She had the cooking of all the food for the fifteen men there. The cooking was nearly a full days work for my sister. The men could always eat all the food on the table, and she always cooked a lot of food for all these men. That is why she couldnt find time to learn English; she hadnt a minute for study from morning till night. She couldnt do both things - cook and learn English . She was happy doing one thing well, cooking, and was always sorry to go away from farm
