Olzhas Omarovich Suleimenov (Kaz. Olzhas Omaruly Suleimenov; b. May 18, 1936, Alma-Ata) - Kazakh poet, writer and literary critic. Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan, People's Writer of the Kazakh SSR (1990), social and political activist of Kazakhstan, diplomat. He gained fame as the author of linguistic studies, in particular, on the Turkic elements Words about the regiment of Igor. The ideas of Suleimenov, rejected by the scientific community, gained popularity in the Turkic world, including because of the political campaign against it in the Soviet era.
Biography
Born in 1936 in the family of a direct descendant of Olzhabay-Batyr (Kazakh) Russian. - Omarkhan Suleimenuly, an officer of the Kazakh cavalry regiment repressed in 1937. It originates from the subgenus Idabol of the Suyindyk clan of the Argyn tribe of the Middle Zhuz. Lev Gumilev, as he reported to Olzhas, sat with his father in the Norilsk camp, where he was shot [1].
He graduated from school in 1954 and entered the geological survey department of the Kazakh State University, graduated in 1959, an engineer-geologist. Last years of study combined with work in exploration parties.
Literary work began in 1955. In 1959 he entered the Literary Institute. A. M. Gorky in Moscow to the department of poetic translation, but in 1961 was forced to interrupt his studies [2] [3]. Suleimenov's collection of poems, published in the Literary Gazette in June 1959, was the first publication of the poet in the national press [4].
In 1962-1971, a literary employee of the Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper, the editor-in-chief of the scenic-editorial board of the Kazakhfilm studio, and the head of the journalism department in the Prostor magazine.
