Most people know all about Mickey Mouse- the most famous cartoon character of all time, but what about his father, Walt Disney?

Walt Elias Disney was born on December 5th q901 in Chicago, Illinois. He liked drawing from a young age and he began selling his first sketches to his neighbors when he was just 7 years old. In August 1923 he left for Hollywood with only 40 dollars with him. His brother Roy lived in California and both of them began the famous Disney brothers studio in uncles garage.

Walts famous character- Mickey Mouse was created in 1928. Mickey first appeared in the first sound cartoon, Steamboat Willie the same year. In 1932 Walt won 32 Academy Awards for the film Flowers and Trees. Over the next 5 years Walt created some of his popular films, such as Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo and Bambi. The total number of films he had created was 81.

Walt Disney died in 1966. His work and art still lives on today, and every new generation still enjoys his films and cartoons.
