Past Simple

+ed либо вторая ф. непр. глаголов.

Для выражения деянья, которое происходило в прошлом. Наречия, указывающие на это время: yesterday, three days ago, last week, last month, in 1999 и т. п.

Past Continuous

was, were +ing

Для выражения долгого и незаконченного действия, проходившей в определенный момент в прошедшем, либо когда две долгие деяния происходили сразу, обе они могут быть выражены в этом медли.

from 2 to 5 o'clock, all day long, all the time

I went to the cinema yesterday.  

I was going to the cinema at four oclock yesterday.
