His mother and father worked from morning till late at night as all the elephants usually did. But Gaston didnt like to work. He liked to play and that was what he did all day long. One morning Gaston39;s mother said, My dear, it39;s time for you to work, too.quot; As Gaston didn39;t want to work, he ran away. He had a very good time: he ran, jumped and played games. In the evening he was very hungry. It was his mother who usually gave him food to eat. But there was no mother with him there. Who could help him? Then Gaston had an idea. He went to the Lion and said: Mr Lion. I 39;m so hungry. Would you give me pottle bananas to eat? All right!quot; said the Lion. But you must work first. Then you can get your supper. The little Elephant did want to have his supper, but he didn39;t want to work! So he ran away. Then he saw the Tiger. He asked the Tiger to give him some apples to eat. OK, said the Tiger, but you must work first.quot; And Gaston ran away. He asked a lot of animals to give him something to eat. But they all asked him to work first. So the hungry Elephant ran back home to his parents. When he saw his mother, he said, Dear Mum! I39;m so sorry!.. Now I know that if I want to have something to eat I must work.
