The state system is a monarchy, and at the moment the queen of the United Kingdom is Elizabeth the second, who is the longest ruling monarch in the history of the United Kingdom.

Geography

The United Kingdom is located on the British Isles, in the north-west of Europe. The climate in the UK is moderate, often rains. The population of the UK is 63 million people. The United Kingdom includes four countries:

• -England;
• -Scotland;
• -Wales;
• -Northern Ireland.

Culture

The official and national language of the United Kingdom is English. There are also such languages as Welsh, Irish, Gaelic and Cornish. Great Britain is home to such great people as Charles Dickens, George Byron, Agatha Christie, Joanne Rowling, George Orwell, Winston Churchill and many others. 

UK is home of many kinds of sports, such as football, boxing, tennis, golf, polo, bowling, rugby, horse racing, badminton.

Economy

To date, the UK has the worlds sixth economy and the second in Europe. The national currency is pound sterling. The capital of Great Britain is London, the largest financial center. The main sector of the economy is the service sector.

The official language of the country is English.

There are many rivers and lakes in Britain. The rivers are not long and the lakes are not deep. The Severn is the longest river. The Thames is the deepest river.

The mountains are not very high. The climate is mild. It often rains in the UK.
