England is the country of Europe, which is trimmed from it by the English Channel. The capital of England is London. The head of the country is the British Queen. England does not have its own parliament, and the highest legislative body is the Parliament of Britain. There is also executive power represented by the prime minister. Once it was the most powerful country in the world. And although its fame has faded a little, now all the same, England also plays a significant political and economic role.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is one of the largest countries of the West Europe. It is located on the north-west of European continent. The United Kingdom consists of four countries:

• England;
• Scotland;
• Wales;
• Northern Ireland.

England is washed by the North Sea in the east, the English Channel in the south, the Celtic Sea and the Bristol Bay in the southwest and the Irish Sea in the northwest. The biggest river is Severn. The most highest peak is  Scafell Pike. The altitude is nine hundred seventy-eight meters.

The history of England began 800,000 years ago when this territory started to inhabit. The most famous dates of the history are:

• The Beaker culture was around 2,500 BC;
• England had many raids by the Vikings who founded here colonies in the 8-9 centuries;
• The country was captured by the Normans in 1066, who initiated the new English state.
