Brazil, officially the Federal Republic of Brazil is the largest state in South America by area and population and the only Portuguese-speaking country in America. It is on the fifth place among the countries in terms of area(8512 thousand km) and the fifth in terms of population(201.1 million). It occupies the Eastern and Central part of the continent.
The capital is Brasilia. The longest distance from North to South is 4320 km, from East to West is 4328 km.it Borders all the States of South America, except Chile and Ecuador: French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela in the North, Colombia in the North-West, Peru and Bolivia in the West, Paraguay and Argentina in the South-West and Uruguay in the South. The length of the land borders is about 16 thousand km. from the East it is washed by the Atlantic ocean, the length of the coastline is 7.4 thousand km. Brazil also includes several archipelagos, in particular Fernando de Noronha, Rokas, San Pedro I so Paulo and Trindade and Martin VAS.
The river network is very dense. The entire Amazon, the South Guiana and the Northern Brazilian plateaus are irrigated by the Amazon river system. The South of the Brazilian plateau-the Uruguay and paran river systems, the West-the tributary of the paran river-Paraguay, the East belongs to the basin of the San Francisco river, the North-Eastern and Eastern borders of the plateau are irrigated by short rivers that flow directly into the Atlantic ocean

Brazil today is a developed industrial power, successfully competing in world markets in such high-tech areas as the aerospace industry, the automotive industry, computer science, and biotechnology. Being today one of the leaders in the export of agricultural products and livestock, the country each year increases its production and strengthens its position in the world, and therefore is a promising partner for cooperation. In 2007, the Republic ranked 6th in the global economy in terms of gross domestic product, and reached the same level as the UK, France, Russia and Italy. 50% of the economy of all Latin America is concentrated in this state.
Speaking of Brazil, they usually recall football, coffee and of course the famous carnival. Brazil is quite distinctive and colorful. On all are the prints of the three cultures, European, Indian and African.
