Frances goes back to bed but she can't sleep. She look aroand and sees something big and dark. "I think it is a giant." She goes into the living room. "There is a giant in my room. May I watch TV?" "No," say Mother and Father. Frances says "May I have a cake?" Father gives Frances a cake. Father says, "Go and ask the giant what he wants?" Frances goes back to her room. She says "What do you want Giant?" She looks at him carefully. There is no giant. It is a chair and her bathrobe.
So she goes to her bedroom. The window is open. " The curtains are moving. I don't like it." She goes into Mother's and Father's room. Frances says, " The curtains are moving." Father says, "Listen, Frances, the curtains are moving. That is the wind's job. In the night  the wind goes around and moves the curtains. I go to my office every morning at nine o'clock. That is my job. You go to school every day. That is YOUR job. If the wind does not do his job, he will be out of a job. If I do not go to to the office, I will be out of a job. And if you do not go to sleep now, do you know what will happen to you?" "I will be out of a job?" says Frances. "No," says Father. "I will get a spanking?" says Frances. "Right!" says Fathe. "Good night!" says Frances, and she goes back to her room.
