Lots of Margaret's friends are not keen on reading books. They prefer going to discos, playing computer games, watching TV and videos. She is shy and not very sociable and she doesn't spend much time going to noisy parties. But she doesn't feel lonely thanks to the books she loves.
When she was a little girl, she loved turning the pages over and over, looking at the beautiful pictures and guessing what the character would say and do. She started reading when she was only five. She imagined herself travelling everywhere, speaking different languages, climbing mountains and flying to other planets. She believes that nearly all she knows she learned from books. Those of her friends who read a lot are smart and interesting to talk to. As a rule they are very good at English. Reading is a special world full of adventures and joy.
