ПЕРЕВЕДИТЕ Безотлагательно!!
The Australian forest flora consists of evergreen hardwoods mainly eucaliptus. A limited area, about 3 per cent of the forestland, has favourable soils and rainfall and contains of the Indonesia type, and forest area of similar size is covered by conifers, mainly cypress pine. The conifer forests are exhausted and do not meet the demand for lumber, and large quantities have to be imported from New Zealand and North America. This deficit will be covered by large-scale plantations of exotic pines. The wild eucaliptus species are capable of very high production and some have become important for plantations in other parts of the world. The New Zealand forests consist of both hardwoods and softwoods. The hardwoods are southern beeches, which cover about 3 million hectares. The conifers are prodocarps. They grow slowly and regenerate poorly. Since the present stands constitute excellent lumber, the prodocarps forests are being heavily exploited and are likely to be exhausted rapidly.
