There are orang -red dunes everywhere : some dunes are very high and skme are 200 kilometres long. Its hard to get up one of the sand dunes and go down the other side . There is almost no water in the Simpson Desert .Sometimes there is no rain in the desert for years . It is very hot in summer and cold in winter . But many animals , birds , insects and plants live there . The desert is severe , but it is beautiful . Today , people like to visit the desert and explore its unique nature.
