9. American flag's colors are red white and blue. The 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 states of the United States of America. The 13 stripes on the flag represent the thirteen British colonies that declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain, and became the first states in the USA.  The American flag is usually called "Stars and Stripes", "Old Glory" and "The Star-Spangled Banner".

A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue became an symbol of freedom and of the United States.
