The culture of Mikens is united with that of Crytes only because of the similar time period. Mikens' arts used motifs, details and orders close to those of Crytes but their base ideas were different
While uniting under their ruling several towns-states Mikens were all in wars - outer, internecine, pirating. Techniques development served the military purposes. Having been proclaimed a Hero during lifetime the dead king was worshipped. Arts developed to be glorifying his power and military force.
Every construction being fortified, natural stones appeared the best building material to use. Strong and stable, even palaces were looking like fortresses, in their monumental forms having acquired no grace. All like soldiers without any trace of finery, uniform standard style buildings formed the towns.
Mikens culture had been noted in big-sized settlements and with the rich only. It died to provide the Greeks with the prototype of a rectangular-planned temple with solemn columns rows.
