All textbooks about Great Britain mention that the British always talk about the weather. The fact is that it is ruse to talk about something private, so people talk about the weather. Thanks to its geographical position and the influence of the Gulf Stream, the weather in the country is never too hot or cold. But it is unpredictable.

Talking about the British weather it's worth mentioning famous smogs which were very often in the 19th and 20th centuries in cities. Smogs are caused by fogs from the North Sea and smoke from millions of chimneys. The London smog of 1952 lasted a week and killed many people. It was so thick that people couldn't see even their hands!
