Dear Diary,
Big argument with my parents tonight. I told them
I want to attend a march next weekend to suppor t the
environment, and what did they say? Did they say,
Good for you, Beth? Did they say, Great idea! Were
really proud of you? No way. Mom said: A march? But
marches are dan gerous, arent they? And Dad said,
Youre kind of young for marches, arent you? Dad,
I said, Im 16. Im not a child. I can look af ter myself.
Dad said, I know youre 16. That makes you a teenager,
doesnt it? Not an adult! And he and Mom started
laughing.
So I stood up and said, L ook. Youve heard about global
warming, havent you? Well, its happening now. And
this is a problem! Im trying to do something. OK? So Ill
be at tending the march on Saturday. Then I stood up
and walk ed out of the room. I cant believe them! I dont
understand why they wont suppor t me when Im trying
to do something good!
Now Im sitting here in my bedroom. I can hear voices
downstairs. Maybe its the T V, but actually I think its
my parent s arguing. Thats strange. They dont usually
argue. Well, not with each other, only with me, of course
