A promise is a promise.

You all might have heard this phrase. A promise is a promise, means that a promise could not be broken, since you promised someone something, you will have to do it. To my mind, I think you may break your promise only if something happened ( for example, you promised your to drive him to the other city, but you were sent to a business trip and cant keep the promise you мейд, so you might tell your friend that you cant do a favor for him, hell probably understand).

But, sometimes the promises still cannot be broken, or might be some people that will force you to keep the promise, so what can you do? However this person doesnt understand that you also have a personal life, that something bad might have happened and you are unable to keep the promise, so you should stop contacting him or her.

And lastly, try to keep the promise, well if youre able to. And if not, you might lose a contact with the person you trusted a lot. You never know if he or she couldve helped you in the future, with your job for example. And remember this: A promise is a promise, it shall never be broken unless you arent unable to keep it. Never make promises with people you dont know or dont trust, it may end in trouble for you!
