One of the well-known streets in Moscow is Arbat. Strange name is amazing even nowadays. Coming from Arab language Arbat means "suburb". And up to XVI century the district from Kremlin to the Garden Ring road was called by this name. Inspite of the Arab name Arbat became the symbol of Moscow, its talisman.

Arbat has a long history of its existence. The road to Smolensk was stretching out along this famous street. At XVIII century aristocracy settled in this street. And after the fire in 1812 there were a lot of mansions in the empire style. In 1990-s the street became pedestrian.

Arbat is very popular among the tourists. There are so many cafes, stores, souvenir shops in it. The indispensable attributes of Arbat are street musicians and artists.
