1) This period is enough to understand the foreign speech, to learn all the necessary vocabulary and be able to speak, read and write in English. 2) Because its easier to understand the plot of the story/ book and to learn all the necessary words. 3) A dictionary provides you not only the translation of the words, but also their transcription and examples of their usage, and sometimes also synonyms and antonyms. 4) It is very useful to compare the English version with the Russian equivalent, and moreover its good to have the Russian version if you dont understand some moment in English. 5) You should listen to the cassettes in order to practice your understanding of foreign oral speech. 6) You should learn texts by heart in order to learn all the necessary vocabulary. 7) Its much more important to use grammar rules in practice then to know them theoretically. 8) You should write down examples of sentences with new words in order to understand the correct usage of the new vocabulary and to get the context where to do it.
