The first rules of tennis are dated 1873 year. At first, the game was popular only in UK and the USA, but since the times it has won admirers around the world. The most important events of the year in tennis are of course the Grand Slam tournament. There are four ones. The oldest of them is Wimbledon. It was first held in 1877. This is the only tournament of the series, which is held on the grass. Two more - US Open and Australian Open - are played on hard. Rolland Garros - a tournament that takes place in France, is played on the ground. There are also two team tournaments for men and women - the Davis Cup and the Confederations Cup.
