Man has always dreamt of flying. But the real steps in this direction were мейд only at the end of the XIX century, when the first balloon flight took place. By this time, a number of important scientific discoveries had already been made. The Montgolfier brothers were not only interested in the latest scientific discoveries, but also tried to implement them. At the beginning of their experiments, they made bags, filled them with hot air and launched into the sky. The first few experiments pushed them to the idea of creating a large ball. They filled it with steam but it didnt give good result. Then it was decided to use hydrogen. However, this light gas evaporated too quickly. After two failed attempts, one of the brothers suggested to use hot smoke. The new experiment was successful. And on the 5-th of June 1783 the first large balloon flew into the air. After the successful start, the Montgolfier brothers received support from the Academy of Sciences which allowed them to continue further experiments.
