Badminton is an ancient sport. Even three thousand year ago children threw up shuttlecocks with arms and legs. Ancient manuscripts tell that people were playing ball with feathers while dynasty Chu was ruling. There are lots of versions about the origin of this game.

 
According to the most popular version, badminton comes from Indian game called Poon. The beginning of modern badminton is 1872, when duke Bofort brought wooden rockets and balls with feathers from India to England. Duke liked this game so much that he organized first competition that year. It was held in his estate called Badminton. That is why game is called so.

In 1860 Isaac Sprat published the book Badminton -Battledore new game where rules of the game were described for the first time. Since 1900 Wimbledon traditional international competitions have been held. For long time they were unofficial world badminton championship.

First exponential badminton competition in Olympic Games was at 1972.Badminton is the third спорт in the chart of the hardest sports. Modern badminton is a game of full value with its own difficult rules. The main point is in throwing shuttlecock to the opponents half of court, but you need to throw shuttlecock over the net, you cant beat shuttlecock more often than once and etc.

We at our town Ramenskoe have a спорт palace where Europe badminton championship is sometimes held, because badminton courts there are one of the best in Russia.

Badminton is a developing спорт that improves from year to year, and  it is not old, I think it will have a great future.
